Terms of Service

Last updated 8 September 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Techcopter Ltd ("Techcopter", "we") for use of techcopter.co.uk and the Techcopter platform.

By creating an account or buying a subscription you accept them. If you are agreeing on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind it.

What Techcopter provides

Techcopter provides interactive industrial equipment models, technical training built around them, and related tools, delivered through a web browser.

In these terms, an "Asset" means an interactive equipment model and its associated components, operating states, failure scenarios and training content. A "Workspace" means the account area belonging to you or your organisation.

Reference models — read this one

Techcopter Assets are reference archetypes for training and familiarisation. They are NOT as-built records of any specific plant, and must never be used as the basis for an engineering, operational or safety decision about real equipment.

A water bath heater in the Techcopter library represents the general design and behaviour of that class of equipment. It is not a model of your water bath heater. Dimensions, materials, set points, instrument tags, trip settings and safeguards will differ from the equipment on your site.

Before acting on anything you learn in Techcopter, verify it against the as-built drawings, the manufacturer's documentation, the equipment's own safety case and your organisation's procedures. Nothing in the platform replaces a competent person, a hazard study, a permit, or an operating procedure.

Training content and failure scenarios are illustrative. Completing a Techcopter module does not certify anyone as competent to operate, maintain or isolate real equipment.

Accounts

  • You must be 16 or over and provide accurate registration details.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your password secure.
  • A seat is one named person. Seats must not be shared between people, though one person may sign in from several devices.
  • Tell us promptly at legal@techcopter.co.uk if you believe your account has been compromised.

Plans, payment and renewal

  • Prices are shown on our pricing page in pounds sterling (GBP). The amount shown at checkout is the total we charge for the period.
  • Techcopter is not currently registered for VAT, so no VAT is added and none is shown on your invoice.
  • Paid subscriptions are billed annually in advance through PayPal. We do not see or store your card or bank details. An invoice for each payment is available in your workspace.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically each year at the then-current price unless cancelled before the renewal date. We will email you before a renewal price increase takes effect.
  • You can cancel at any time from your workspace or through PayPal. Cancellation stops the next renewal; access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for.
  • If a payment fails, PayPal may retry it. We may suspend access if payment remains outstanding after those retries.
  • Enterprise agreements are governed by a separate signed order form, which takes precedence over these terms where they conflict.

Refunds

If you are a consumer in the UK or EU you have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days of purchase. By starting to use the platform within that period you may lose that right, and we will tell you so at checkout.

Outside that statutory right, annual subscriptions are non-refundable, in whole or in part. Cancelling stops the next renewal and does not refund the period already paid for; your access continues to the end of it.

Credits are non-refundable and are not exchangeable for money. They do not expire, and unused credits stay on the account. Credits reserved against a job that fails are released back to your balance automatically — that is a reservation being cancelled rather than a refund, and no charge is made for work that did not happen.

If Techcopter is materially unavailable for a sustained period, contact us and we will discuss a credit in good faith.

Your licence to use Assets

While your subscription is active we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the Assets included in your plan, for your own internal training, education and engineering-familiarisation purposes.

  • You may not download, extract, decompile or otherwise obtain the underlying geometry, source files or model data except where we provide an explicit export feature.
  • You may not resell, sublicense, rent or redistribute Assets, or make them available to anyone outside your organisation.
  • You may not use Assets to build a competing product or training library.
  • You may not remove or obscure attribution, tags or the reference-model notice.
  • The licence ends when your subscription ends.

Your content

You keep ownership of anything you upload or create in your workspace. You grant us only the licence needed to host, process and display it back to you and the people you share it with.

You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload, and for ensuring it contains nothing confidential that you are not permitted to place on a third-party platform.

One step sends part of your content to a third party, and only when you choose it. If you use "Identify parts" on the conversion page, the name of your file and the names of the parts inside it are sent to our model provider, named in the Privacy Policy, so they can be classified. The geometry itself is never sent, and nothing is sent unless you press that button.

Acceptable use

We may suspend an account that breaches these rules, and will tell you why unless doing so would compromise an investigation or security.

  • Do not attempt to breach, probe or circumvent the platform's security or access controls.
  • Do not use the platform to store or transmit unlawful, infringing or malicious material.
  • Do not scrape, bulk-download or automate access beyond normal product use.
  • Do not misrepresent Techcopter content as an as-built record or a certification.

Intellectual property

Techcopter, its name, logo, software, Assets and content remain our property or that of our licensors. These terms grant you a licence to use the service, not any ownership in it.

TechPHA is a Techcopter product provided under its own terms at techpha.com. Your Techcopter subscription does not include TechPHA.

Availability

We aim to keep Techcopter available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may carry out maintenance, and may change or withdraw features, giving reasonable notice of anything material.

Any service level commitment applies only where it is set out in a signed enterprise order form.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Subject to that, and to the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • The platform is provided on an "as is" basis. We exclude implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of contract, or loss of data.
  • We are not liable for any decision taken about real equipment, or any consequence of such a decision, where that decision relied on a Techcopter Asset. Assets are reference models, as set out above.
  • Our total liability in any 12-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your breach of these terms, your misuse of the platform, or your use of a Techcopter Asset in a way these terms prohibit.

Termination

You may close your account at any time in Settings, in the app, or by writing to us; it is deleted immediately. If you have a paid subscription, cancel it first — either from the billing page in your workspace or in PayPal, since both end the same subscription — because we will not close an account that is still being billed. We may suspend or terminate an account for material breach, non-payment, or where required by law.

On termination your licence ends and access stops. We will retain data only as described in the Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. For material changes we will give at least 30 days' notice by email to account holders, and the change takes effect at your next renewal. Continuing to use the platform after that means you accept the change.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that we may seek injunctive relief in any jurisdiction.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live.
