Control Valve

Globe control valve with pneumatic actuator and positioner, showing fail-safe action and stiction.

This asset is on the roadmap.

The catalogue entry exists so you can see what is coming and tell us if you need it sooner. Interested organisations shape the build order.

The final element of a control loop — where a controller's output becomes a restriction in the pipe. A globe body turns the stream through a port between plug and seat ring; their profile decides how flow varies with travel. An actuator on a yoke above drives a stem through the bonnet packing to position the plug; a positioner holds the stem where the signal asks. Fail-safe action follows from the actuator's action and the trim arrangement together, not from either alone. Stiction, the stem holding still through a change in demand then jumping past it, is a common cause of poor control. It is mounted in the line itself, between isolation valves, usually with a hand bypass around it.
