Hydrogen Compressor

Multi-stage compression for hydrogen storage and dispensing, with intercooling and seal gas systems.

This asset is on the roadmap.

The catalogue entry exists so you can see what is coming and tell us if you need it sooner. Interested organisations shape the build order.

Explore the equipment

Hydrogen leaves an electrolyser at a lower pressure than a storage bank holds, so a compressor stands between production and storage — after the separator and dryer on an electrolytic plant, ahead of the tubes it charges. The rise is taken in stages, with the gas cooled between them to hold discharge temperatures down and reduce the next stage's work. Machines in this duty are usually positive-displacement: reciprocating, or diaphragm where no sliding seal may touch the gas. On a reciprocating machine a crank drives pistons in cylinders, each with its own suction and discharge valves, and seal gas is supplied where the piston rod leaves the cylinder, keeping hydrogen out of the crankcase and the surrounding air.
